Peony ITOH Visions of Sugar Plums is a real gem among hybrid peonies, striking with its decorative appearance, elegance, and endurance. It belongs to the ITO hybrid group — a unique combination of tree peonies and herbaceous peonies. This variety combines the best qualities of both types: lush, long-lasting flowering, strong stems that do not require staking, as well as high frost resistance and disease resistance.

The flowers are large, 15–20 cm in diameter, semi-double. Their petals have an exquisite pink-lilac color. During the budding period, each flower looks different, changing shades depending on the lighting and flowering phase. This creates the effect of a living, changing palette, which adds even more decorative appeal to the plant.

Thanks to its powerful rhizome and strong shoots, the plant forms a dense, neat bush with good architecture, which retains its shape well even after heavy rain. This variety is easy to care for, frost-resistant, easily adapts to different climatic conditions, and does not require annual digging. The ideal solution for those who want to combine elegance, reliability, and exclusivity in their garden.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
  • Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
