Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains which personal data Peonita collects when you visit www.peonita.com, place an order or sign up for our emails, why we use it, and what rights you have. Last updated: October 2026.
Who is responsible for your data
Peonita is a brand of Dutch-Bulbs B.V., Carolus Clusiuslaan 3D, 2215 RV Voorhout, the Netherlands (KvK 93915667). Dutch-Bulbs B.V. is the controller of your personal data. For any privacy question, email support@peonita.com.
What data we collect
- Order data: name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, the products you order and payment status. We do not see or store your full card details; payments are processed by our payment providers.
- Account data: if you create a customer account, your login details and order history.
- Communication: emails and messages you send us, for example about your order or your plants.
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and how you use our website, collected with cookies and similar technologies.
- Email subscription: your email address and your preferences if you sign up for our newsletter.
Why we use your data and on what legal basis
- To process and deliver your order, send order and shipping updates and handle returns and guarantee claims — necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To answer your questions and provide customer service — necessary for the contract or our legitimate interest in helping you.
- To keep our administration and meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules — legal obligation.
- To prevent fraud and keep our shop secure — legitimate interest.
- To measure and improve our website and show relevant advertising — your consent via our cookie banner, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To send our newsletter — your consent, or our legitimate interest if you are an existing customer and did not object. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To invite you to review your order on Trustpilot — legitimate interest. You can decline or ignore the invitation.
Who we share your data with
We only share your data with parties that help us run our shop, and only the data they need:
- Shopify, which hosts our online shop and checkout (Shopify privacy policy).
- Payment providers (Shopify Payments and, if you choose it, Klarna), which process your payment.
- Carriers (DPD, UPS or PostNL), which deliver your parcel and receive your name, address and contact details for that purpose.
- Google (Analytics and advertising services), if you accept analytics or marketing cookies (Google privacy policy).
- Trustpilot, which sends review invitations on our behalf.
- Authorities, if we are legally required to share data.
We do not sell your personal data.
Data outside the European Union
Some of our service providers, such as Shopify and Google, may process data outside the European Economic Area. In that case we rely on the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep your data
- Order and invoice data: 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law.
- Customer service messages: up to 2 years after your last contact.
- Customer account: until you ask us to delete it.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics and marketing cookies: as described in the cookie banner, and never longer than 2 years.
Cookies and your choices
Necessary cookies make the shop and checkout work and do not need consent. Analytics and marketing cookies are only used if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page or in your browser settings.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To use these rights, email support@peonita.com. We reply within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or with the data protection authority in your own country.
Security
Our website and checkout use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to customer data within our company is limited to the people who need it for their work.
Links to other websites
Our website and emails may link to other websites, such as Trustpilot or Instagram. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The version on this page applies.
