Peony Morning Lilac is a real showstopper that brings an incredible, vibrant energy to the garden. Its large, airy blooms are a stunning shade of rich fuchsia-purple with soft lilac undertones. The slightly ruffled petals open wide to show off a bright, golden-yellow center, creating a bold and cheerful contrast that you just can't help but admire.

This gorgeous variety is perfect for adding a pop of intense color to your flower beds or pathways. It grows into a healthy, dependable bush with strong stems that easily hold up the large, showy flowers, even on breezy spring days. The lush, deeply cut green leaves give the plant a wonderful texture and keep your garden looking beautiful all summer long.

Morning Lilac is also a fantastic flower to pick and bring inside. These bright, jewel-toned blossoms look absolutely amazing in a vase, instantly filling the room with a joyful, uplifting vibe and a light, sweet scent. It’s the perfect choice for anyone who loves rich, bold colors and wants a peony that feels truly lively and special.

Read more about our sizes & quality.

Will it flower in the first year?

Peonies take time to settle. A 3–5 eye root builds a strong plant in its first year and usually flowers from the 2nd or 3rd year, then every year for decades. If your peony has not grown or flowered although you followed our planting instructions, our 100% flowering guarantee applies: we replace it or refund you.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting peony roots

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the peony root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
  • Place the root in the hole with the eyes (small buds) facing up. For herbaceous and Itoh peonies, the eyes should be 2–5 centimeters below the soil surface; plant tree peonies at the depth they grew in the nursery.
  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the root.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
