Peony Lemon Dream is a truly magical flower that loves to surprise you. Its large, ruffled blooms are a beautiful, soft, creamy yellow, but what makes it so special are the playful splashes and streaks of bright pink. Sometimes, an entire section or half of the flower will bloom in that vivid pink, making every single blossom totally unique! Right in the middle, a cluster of bright golden stamens adds even more sunny cheer to this wonderful, color-changing beauty.

This peony is an absolute joy to have in the garden, fitting perfectly into any sunny flower bed or mixed border. It grows into a really healthy, strong bush with sturdy stems that easily hold up those big, colorful flowers, so you never have to worry about them flopping over into the dirt after a spring rain. The beautiful, rich green leaves stay looking fresh and vibrant long after the blooming is done, keeping your garden looking neat all summer.

Lemon Dream is also a fantastic choice if you love making bouquets. Bringing a few of these unique, watercolor-painted flowers indoors instantly adds a happy, bright, and airy feel to your home. It’s the perfect peony for anyone who loves a little bit of fun and surprise in their garden, offering a truly special, sunny charm that is impossible to ignore.

Read more about our sizes & quality.

Will it flower in the first year?

Peonies take time to settle. A 3–5 eye root builds a strong plant in its first year and usually flowers from the 2nd or 3rd year, then every year for decades. If your peony has not grown or flowered although you followed our planting instructions, our 100% flowering guarantee applies: we replace it or refund you.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting peony roots

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the peony root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
  • Place the root in the hole with the eyes (small buds) facing up. For herbaceous and Itoh peonies, the eyes should be 2–5 centimeters below the soil surface; plant tree peonies at the depth they grew in the nursery.
  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the root.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
