Peony ITOH Haleigh's Comet is a spectacular and rare variety among ITOH hybrids, striking with its harmonious combination of delicate color, perfect shape, and endurance. The variety was named after the legendary comet, and it fully lives up to its name — the flowers seem to radiate light and energy.
The buds open into large, semi-double or double flowers up to 18–20 cm in diameter. Their delicate yellow color with a purple center creates a visual effect of an explosion of light. The flowers appear in large numbers — up to 50 buds form on each adult bush, ensuring long and abundant flowering.
The bush is sturdy, compact, and holds its shape well without tying. The stems are strong and do not break under the weight of the flowers. The leaves are deeply dissected, dense, decorative from spring to autumn, changing color to burgundy-bronze in autumn. This variety is unpretentious, frost-resistant (withstands temperatures down to –30°C), and adapts well to different climatic conditions and soils.

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
