Going Bananas is an ITOH peony with large semi-double or double flowers 15–20 cm in diameter. The bright lemon-yellow petals have a soft shimmer and often retain a warm hue even in hot weather. The center is decorated with golden stamens, which adds depth and contrast to the flower. The exquisite appearance is combined with a light fruity aroma that fills the garden with a pleasant fragrance.
The flowering of this variety lasts longer than that of classic herbaceous peonies, and the flowers appear one after the other, forming a wave effect. Strong stems hold flowers well even in the rain, without requiring a garter. A compact and neat bush will decorate the foreground of a flower bed, borders or become an accent in a composition in a mixed flower garden.
The Going Bananas variety is suitable for both single planting and cutting – the flowers retain their freshness for a long time in a vase. It is an ideal choice for those who want to add warmth, brightness and elegance to the garden.

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
