Paeonia Vogue, introduced in 1949 by the renowned Dutch breeder Hoogendoorn, is a true icon of peony elegance, embodying the high-fashion sophistication of its glamorous namesake. This variety enchants with its exceptionally large, fully double flowers—measuring up to 12-14 inches across—that burst open in a delicate shell-pink hue, evoking the soft blush of a Parisian runway at dawn. As the petals unfurl in luxurious, ruffled layers, they gracefully transition to a pristine, pure white, with the outer petals reflexing elegantly to reveal a subtle silvery sheen that catches the light like finely woven silk. Delicate crimson edges on select petals add a whisper of drama, while faint yellow stamens peek from the flower's depths, creating a harmonious blend of subtlety and allure. The blooms exude a gorgeously sweet fragrance, reminiscent of fresh linens in a sunlit atelier, drawing admirers close and infusing the air with an irresistible, nostalgic charm. Each flower is a statement piece, its voluminous form and refined color evolution making it a perennial favorite for those seeking understated luxury in their gardens.
The allure of Paeonia Vogue extends far beyond its visual and olfactory splendor, offering gardeners a blend of beauty and reliability that ensures its place as a timeless choice. Though it may take a few years to reach full maturity—typically 3-4 seasons—this patient investment yields robust, upright plants with sturdy stems that effortlessly support even the heaviest of its extravagant blooms, holding them aloft without need for staking through rain, wind, or the gentle sway of summer breezes. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, Vogue adapts beautifully to fertile, well-drained soils and demonstrates impressive resilience against pests and diseases, promising decades of dependable performance in USDA zones 3-8. Its dark green, divided foliage provides a lush backdrop throughout the season, turning to warm purplish-gold tones in autumn for added seasonal interest. Ideal for dramatic mixed borders, as the star of sophisticated bouquets, or as a focal point in a modern or vintage-inspired garden, Paeonia Vogue evokes the poise of a red-carpet moment, bringing an air of refined glamour and serene sophistication to any landscape.

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
