Jadwiga is a herbaceous peony with large, densely double pink flowers that can acquire a light pearly sheen in the sun. Its petals are tightly gathered in generous, rounded buds that open into a harmonious, textured flower with a mild scent that attracts bees and butterflies.
This variety is ideal for creating romantic flower beds, borders, and landscape compositions. Peony Jadwiga is also an excellent choice for cutting – the flowers remain fresh in a vase for a long time. The stems are strong and hold large flowers well even in the rain. Dark green foliage serves as a contrasting background, emphasizing the tenderness of the buds.

Will it flower in the first year?
Will it flower in the first year?
Peonies take time to settle. A 3–5 eye root builds a strong plant in its first year and usually flowers from the 2nd or 3rd year, then every year for decades. If your peony has not grown or flowered although you followed our planting instructions, our 100% flowering guarantee applies: we replace it or refund you.

Guide and tips for planting peony roots
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the peony root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the root in the hole with the eyes (small buds) facing up. For herbaceous and Itoh peonies, the eyes should be 2–5 centimeters below the soil surface; plant tree peonies at the depth they grew in the nursery.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
