The Milkflower Peony 'Etched Salmon' attracts attention with its huge, tabletop-sized flowers and incredibly abundant blooms. An intraspecific variety. Blossoms mid-season. Was released in 1981. Originator: Cousin/Klehm. Very popular throughout the world. Measuring approximately 85 cm tall.
general appearance
The peony has sturdy stems and rosy-scented flowers with unusual and attractive edges. The flowers are also thickly swollen, rose-shaped and of fine quality. Without stamens, pollen or seeds. Strongly fragrant. Their colouring changes as they 'mature'. The lower petals are large. The inner petals are small, concave and toothed. All stamens are turned into petals. Note that the older the peony, the more flowers it produces!
Reasons to love it:
It is a botanical work of art with perfect petal symmetry. The spicy fragrance of the peony will make your head spin. The plant itself is vigorous, robust and abundant in bloom. Great for bouquets, especially for weddings.
Awards and nominations: Gold Medal from the American Peony Society (2002), APS National Show Grand Champion (1990).

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
