A thickly flushed, medium-early variety. A milk-flowered peony that will grace your flower bed in late spring. It takes to the runway when the bulbs have already bloomed. This herbaceous perennial will enchant you! It belongs to the new generation of red peonies for cutting. The most regal red! A very beautiful peony. Strong flower stems and healthy foliage. The flower holds up well. This variety was bred in 1964. Originator: Falk. Marketed by Greenworks (Netherlands). A high quality peony for the garden or cut into vases!

Distinguishing characteristics:

In our opinion, this is a best-in-class peony.
Beautiful full red buds herald a spectacular flower!
The flower type: Full double.
The velvety petals are large, dark red and intricately intertwined (this sets this variety apart from other peonies).
Will not fade in full sun.
The sturdy stems, clad in glossy dark green foliage, complete the above.
The flowers are fragrance-free or lightly scented.
Each flower lives 7-10 days.
The flower stems are sturdy. Three or more flowers form on each of the flower stalks.
The leaves are dark green, double ternate, pointed and look great throughout the season.
They remain attractive until just before frost.
This is a 'quadrupedal' hybrid and its origins are unknown.
However, it doesn't matter. It is like a jewel in the garden.
And by far the most reliable.
Winner of the APS Gold Medal 1997; Landscape Award of Merit 2009 and the 'Das Fürstliche Gartenfest Schloß Wolfsgarten Botanic Preis in Bronze' award.
The plant is 80-100 cm tall.
Flowering period: late spring/early summer.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
  • Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
