Peony Black Star is a truly dramatic and luxurious flower that immediately captures your attention. Its large, velvety petals are a deep, dark burgundy that can look almost black in the shadows. The petals are beautifully ruffled and layered, creating a rich, full bloom. Right in the very center, a tiny peek of bright yellow stamens provides a stunning pop of contrast, making those deep, dark colors look even more intense and mysterious.
This striking peony makes an incredible focal point in any garden. Whether you plant it in a mixed border or a dedicated flower bed, it’s sure to stand out and grab everyone's eye. The bush itself is strong and reliable, with sturdy stems that easily support the heavy, full flowers without drooping. The lush, dark green leaves perfectly frame the dark blooms and keep the plant looking beautiful and healthy all season long.
Black Star is also an amazing choice for cutting. Bringing a few of these dark, moody blossoms indoors instantly adds a touch of sophisticated elegance and a cozy feel to any room. They last wonderfully in a vase, letting you enjoy their rich color and texture up close. It’s the perfect peony for anyone who loves a touch of drama and wants a truly unforgettable flower in their collection.

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
