Anna Marie is a medium early peony variety with semi-double flowers of soft pink color. The shade is delicate, the center of the flower often has dark tones that contrast perfectly with the delicate outer petals. The shape of the flowers is round, harmonious, with a slight layering of petals. The stems are strong, supporting the weight of the flower without a garter. The foliage is dark green, shiny, adds decorative effect even after flowering.
Peony Anna Marie likes sunny to partial shade with well-drained, fertile soil. Regular watering during the budding period will ensure abundant and bright flowering. The variety does not require special care, but will be grateful for annual mulching and fertilizing in the spring. This is a versatile variety that will perfectly fit into flower arrangements, borders, mixborders or flower beds. This peony is also a great option for cutting - it stands for a long time in a vase and has a pleasant aroma.

Will it flower in the first year?

Peonies take time to settle. A 3–5 eye root builds a strong plant in its first year and usually flowers from the 2nd or 3rd year, then every year for decades. If your peony has not grown or flowered although you followed our planting instructions, our 100% flowering guarantee applies: we replace it or refund you.

How to Plant?

Guide and tips for planting peony roots

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
  • Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the peony root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
  • Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
  • Place the root in the hole with the eyes (small buds) facing up. For herbaceous and Itoh peonies, the eyes should be 2–5 centimeters below the soil surface; plant tree peonies at the depth they grew in the nursery.
  • Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the root.
  • Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
  • Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
  • As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
  • After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
