Peony W.F. Turner is the embodiment of classic beauty in the world of herbaceous peonies. The variety was bred in the United States in the mid-20th century, but it remains a favorite among collectors and gardeners thanks to its restrained elegance and delicate flower structure.
The flowers are large, semi-double, with delicate wavy petals of a rich crimson color that gradually lightens towards the center. The open center with golden stamens adds a charming lightness and decorative expressiveness to the flowers. The petals have a velvety texture and pronounced symmetry, making this variety particularly attractive in bouquets.
Peony W.F. Turner blooms in mid-season and holds its shape well even in rainy weather thanks to its strong stems. The plant forms a harmonious bush with lush dark green foliage that remains decorative until autumn. It goes well with other varieties in mixed borders or can be the centerpiece of a flower bed.

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
