Peony Topeka Garnet is one of the most expressive varieties of herbaceous peonies, captivating with its deep, rich color. Its flowers have an exquisite burgundy, almost garnet hue with a velvety sheen that changes from dark red to cherry purple in the sun.
The petals are simple, large, but arranged so perfectly that the flower looks luxurious, voluminous, and very harmonious. The flowers of Topeka Garnet are distinguished by their noble simplicity — they are not overly double, but this is precisely what makes them so elegant.
The variety is also attractive because it blooms quite early — one of the first in the season. Its strong stems can easily support the weight of the flowers, and the glossy dark green leaves remain decorative until autumn.

Guide and tips for planting peony plants and bulbs
- Choose a sunny spot in your garden with well-draining soil.
- Dig a hole that is 2-3 times wider than the diameter of the peony bulb or root and deep enough to accommodate it comfortably.
- Mix some compost or other organic matter into the soil at the bottom of the hole.
- Place the peony bulb or root in the hole with the "eyes" (small buds) facing up and the crown (thickened stem base) no more than 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
- Fill the hole with soil and gently firm the soil around the bulb or root.
- Water the soil until it is evenly moist.
- Cover the area with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Water the plant regularly, making sure not to let the soil dry out completely.
- As the plant grows, provide support to the stem to prevent it from bending or breaking.
- After the flowers have faded, cut the stem off at the base and continue to care for the plant by watering it regularly and providing it with full sun or partial shade.
